ONLINE COURSE

The   course   addresses   in   particular   students   who   come   from   different   backgrounds   and   areas   of   studies   without   a   strong European   dimension,   but   also   civil   society   (including   NGOs   representatives).   For   all   participants   from   border   regions   is relevant   to   further   enhance   their   knowledge   in   cross-border   cooperation   and   in   the   study   of   the   ENP   &   EaP.   Thus,   the proposed   course,   available   online   aims   at   providing   students   and   non-professionals   in   the   eastern   borderlands   of   the   EU with   basic   knowledge   and   practical   experience   in   the   political,   economic   and   social   processes   occurring   in   EU’s   eastern cross-border regions, the proposed course having a strong multidisciplinary dimension. COORDINATORS : Teodor Lucian Moga ( UAIC ), Grigore Vasilescu ( USM ), Ewelina Szczech-Pietkiewicz ( WSE ) WHO CAN ATTEND THIS COURSE:  students who come from different backgrounds and areas of studies without a strong European dimension, but also civil society (including NGOs representatives) HOW TO REGISTER: all the participants would require to have/make a Gmail account to access and complete the course (the online course is hosted on the Google classroom platform). Please fill in this form with your detailes (name, affilition, Gmail address) After registration, you will receive an email with an invitation to join the classroom. Access 'Classwork' tab and go through the course units in order. After studying each unit (course and bibliography), complete the quiz. In order to pass the quiz, it is necessary to score at least 60 points. You can answer the quiz again until you get the minimum score. CERTIFICATE: upon finalizing all the units and the quizzes, participants will receive a certificate

The course addresses in particular students who come from different backgrounds and areas of studies without a strong European dimension, but also civil society (including NGOs representatives). For all participants from border regions is relevant to further enhance their knowledge in cross-border cooperation and in the study of the ENP & EaP. Thus, the proposed course, available online on the Blackboard platform aims at providing students and non-professionals in the eastern borderlands of the EU with basic knowledge and practical experience in the political, economic and social processes occurring in EU’s eastern cross-border regions, the proposed course having a strong multidisciplinary dimension.  Course outcomes: Upon completing the course students will 1. Understand the complex political and economic background of Eastern Europe and the wider post-Soviet space 2. develop a broad knowledge of the EU’s actorness in Eastern Europe and the broader post-Soviet space; 3. be able to analyse the current conceptual debates over the Union’s role in the Eastern borderlands; 3. understand the complexities and dynamics of regional and cross-border relations within Europe and beyond; 5. enhance their critical assessment skills by examining various instruments through which CBC functions; 6. be able to understand the role of Cross-border cooperation as a key priority of the European Neighbourhood Instruments (ENI); 7. be able to identify the opportunities of being a border region, as well as to operate with key concepts of regional development, such as periphery, core-periphery model, sustainable development, etc.
