EU Neighbors’ day – together for a common future

Between June and July 2021, a unique video competition was organized, with attractive prizes, addressed to students (both those enrolled in undergraduate and master's degree programs). The competition was open to students enrolled at Universities (bachelor or master level) from partner countries (Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Poland, Belarus, Hungary), no matter the field of specialization. The winning video "Fly" sent by Naida Vitalii (Ukraine) shows the role of the "Erasmus+" programs in the development of youth in the countries of the Eastern Partnership. The film also demonstrates how important it is for a motivated young person to have the opportunity to see the world, explore other cultures and soon return to their country with new knowledge and views. The video is based on author's poem, which was inspired by his experience of participating in the Erasmus+ programs. List of award-winning videos 1. Naida Vitalii - Fly! (Gold prize) 2. The aim of the day is to promote better community communication and cohesion. 

Rules & Terms

Eligibility The competition is open to students enrolled at Universities (bachelor or master level) from partner countries (Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Poland, Belarus, Hungary), no matter the field of specialization. Although each work is welcomed, the contest is mainly addressed to the non-professional participants who enthusiastically seek to express their ideas through movie media. The entries should be individual. Thematic The participants are invited to submit video works on following subjects: The value of friendship within people and EU’s neighbors. “Unity in diversity”. The power of tolerance and the understanding of cultural diversity. The value of cooperation in strengthening peace within EU. Democracy and citizenship in the EU. Technical details The submitted works should be original and reflect the participant’s own perspective and approach. If an entry involves any disputes over intellectual property rights, the contestant must assume all responsibility. The organizers are exonerated of all responsibilities derived from such a matter. The video-clips should be between 2 and 3 minutes in length and be submitted in MP4 format (max. 100 MB). Image resolution: 720p or higher. The language used in the videos should be English. If certain movie parts display a different language (interviews, for example), English hardsubs (embedded subtitle) must be provided. The participants are free to choose the video genre as they see fit (Narrative, Documentary, Animation, Experimental, Collage etc.), excluding political/religious ads, unjustified graphic violence, abuse, or pornography.  The participants are free to choose the most appropriate way to visually express their message. If the chosen method is video-collage (including video shots, image/ photo transitions etc.) the participants have to make sure that the materials used are original or copyright free. For possible copy-right free/ royalty free resources please check the list at end of this call. All credits used in the video should be displayed in a frame at the end of the movie-clip.   Evaluation criteria; For the Gold (310€), Silver (2x200€), Bronze (150€), Best Creative (100€), Best Message Awards (100€),  Inspiring video (4x60€). The entries will be judged by a Committee comprised by representative Academics from the organizing institutions. The following criteria will be considered: The relevance of the entry (2,5 p); Originality (2,5 p); The coherence and meaningfulness of the story/ message (2,5 p); The creativeness of video design (2,5 p).   Final provisions: Participants must be the original creators of the movie-clip entries. The videos subscribed to the contest must be created for this competition and must not have been submitted before to any other similar contest. Also, the entries must be unpublished works. Plagiarism, borrowing, copying, or counterfeiting are not permitted. If any sign of intellectual property infringement will be found, the entry will be excluded from the contest. Entries involving intellectual property rights disputes shall be the responsibility of the entrants themselves and have nothing to do with the organizer. Those who fail to comply with or provide the provisions of this brief shall be deemed to be abstaining, and the organizer may directly cancel the eligibility of prizes for the submitted work without notice. The participants agree to grant the organizer the right to broadcast their works. The organizers reserve the right to use the video entries for contest promotion campaign and other similar purposes. Participants should read and agree to the provisions of this brief. The organizer reserves the right to amend at any time.
